Would you like to have better days?

We all have the same amount of hours in a day, but sometimes the difference between someone thriving vs slugging through, can be down to this one thing… taking healthy breaks!

So what is a healthy break?

Short breaks taken daily, doing anything OR nothing that makes YOU feel good. Keywords… feel good. So often we fill a lot of time with breaks that do not serve us. Let’s face it, we are consumed by a techo driven world, scrolling or we find ourselves in a rut of the same old self destructive routines.

Why introduce healthy breaks to your day?

Because studies have found that when you take breaks, this can reduce or prevent stress. Also, this helps to maintain your performance throughout the day, while reducing the need for a long recovery at the end of the day. This can also bring fun, conversation and entertainment!

So what are some ways you can take a healthy break?

  • Moving. Go for a walk, run or stretch…
  • Creating. Doodling, knitting, woodworking, baking…
  • Reflecting. Meditating, journaling, gazing out a window…
  • Reading. Be careful what you choose ie. a newspaper can sometimes have the opposite effect.

Do anything that makes you feel good!

When is the best time to take a healthy break?

Throughout the day and they do not have to take long. In fact a 5 minute break is all you need to feel refreshed and re-energized. Imagine if you took a few of these healthy breaks throughout your day!

Setting yourself up for success

Like anything else, to make healthy breaks happen, we need to go one step further and book in times with yourself so they happen. Plan this in your calendar or set your alarm on your phone. Perhaps mid-morning, noon, mid-afternoon and early evening.
